Oxford's student debating union, meeting weekly in term since 1934.

We debate in the British Parliamentary format — four teams, fifteen minutes' prep, and a motion that could be anything from foreign policy to free will. Some of us came in having never spoken in public; most of us still get nervous before a final.
What holds it together is the company: people who'd rather change their mind than win cheaply, and who'll happily pick your argument apart over a pint afterwards.
Guides, motion breakdowns and the occasional argument about arguing.
We ran nine rounds across the weekend. Here's how the motions split and who made the final.

Our annual tournament draws 80+ teams from across the circuit for a full weekend of competition.
Speaker workshops, judging clinics and honest critique that actually makes you better.
No experience needed — just turn up, listen, and put your name down to speak when you're ready.
